Instrumentation
Covers selection, installation, and calibration of field instruments with a focus on flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurements, control valves, loop checks, and documentation.
Measurement Principles: pressure, flow, level, temperature
Signals & Conditioning: 4–20 mA/0–10 V, intrinsic safety, barriers, isolators, earthing
Transmitter Configuration: ranges, LRV/URV, damping, square-root; HART/Modbus tools
Control Valves: sizing, trims, actuators, positioners, fail-safe design
P&ID & Documentation: symbols, loop numbers, hook-ups, datasheets, calibration certificates
Closed-Loop Control: PID concepts, tuning, cascade/ratio strategies, alarms and interlocks
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: loop checks, leakage tests, drift analysis
Learning Outcomes
- Structure projects with reusable UDT/FB/FC libraries and version control
- Implement complex logic in SCL with clear state machines and diagnostics
- Create HMI faceplates with parameter binding, alarms, and recipe management
- Commission Startdrive with telegram selection, traces, and basic motion
- Apply PID_Compact with autotune and anti-windup for stable control
- Exchange data via OPC-UA/Modbus and generate CSV logs for audits/analytics
